GODZILLA!

Play Godzilla HERE

My friend Rico Dostie covered the 1956 movie Godzilla!  on his podcast Treks in Sci Fi.  I was searching to make a parody when I remembered the classic Blue Oyster Cult song of the same name.  I decided to do a cover of the song since it said all I wanted to say about the loveable monster.  So here you go, my first cover song… GODZILLA!

Godzilla
by Blue Oyster Cult
Performed by Rick Moyer

With a purposeful grimace and a terrible sound
He pulls the spitting high tension wires down, Godzilla!

Helpless people on subway trains
Scream BUG-EYED as he looks in on them, Godzilla!

He picks up a bus and he throws it back down
As he wades through the buildings toward the center of town, Godzilla

Oh no, they say he’s got to go
Go go Godzilla, yeah
Oh no, there goes Tokyo
Go go Godzilla, yeah

Oh no, they say he’s got to go
Go go Godzilla, yeah
Oh no, there goes Tokyo
Go go Godzilla, yeah

Rinji news o moshiagemasu!
Rinji news o moshiagemasu!
Godzilla ga Ginza hoomen e mukatte imasu!
Daishkyu hinan shite kudasai!
Daishkyu hinan shite kudasai!
(Attention, emergency news!
Attention, emergency news!
Godzilla is going toward the Ginza area!
Immediately escape, catch up, find shelter please!
Immediately escape, catch up, find shelter please!)

Oh no, they say he’s got to go
Go go Godzilla, yeah
Oh no, there goes Tokyo
Go go Godzilla, yeah

History shows again and again
How nature points up(OUT) the folly of men
Godzilla!(4x)

AWFUL EPISODE

Play Awful Episode Here

Amy and I got to guest host the Treks in Sci Fi Podcast this weekend and we covered the episode called Shades of Gray.  It is a TNG clip episode that is rated among the worst Trek episodes ever made.. but to their credit, it wasn’t that bad!  So Amy and I discussed it at length and really enjoyed the show.  I had to parody the fact that I like Star Trek even if it’s a cheesy episode.. so I took the Rolling Stones song “It’s only Rock and Roll” and made it into  “Awful Episode”  hehehe.  Enjoy!

Awful Episode
A parody of the Rolling Stones “It’s only Rock n Roll”
Lyrics and singing by Rick Moyer

If I could watch any show on the telly

And be all warm inside
It would satisfy ya, never slide on by ya
Cause in Picard I would confide, I would confide

If nothing is on ya, but the cravin is strong ya

Even if it’s a clunker you see
I’d watch it just the same cause it Trek not lame
I’d boldly go cause that’s me, that’s meeee.

I said I know, It’s an awful episode but I like it.
I said I know it’s an awful episode but I like it, Star Trek, yes, I do.
Oh well I like it, It’s Star Trek, I like it,
I said can’t you see this boy loves Starfleet?

If I had to give up some of the collection
You could take a lot from me
Have my BSG take Firefly from me
But The Enterprise it stays with me, don’t take my Trek from me

Even if the plot is pointless and dumb
Or the continuity is changed
Something’s so alluring, Cause Trek is quite assuring
Am I a fanboy and deranged? I’m deranged.

I said I know, It’s an awful episode but I like it.

I said I know it’s an awful episode but I like it, Star Trek, yes, I do.
Oh well I like it, It’s Star Trek, I like it,
I said can’t you see this boy loves Starfleet?

And do I think it’s the only franchise town?
Well for me even if it sucks, I’ll keep it around

I said I know, It’s an awful episode but I like it.
I said I know it’s an awful episode but I like it, Star Trek, yes, I do.
Oh well I like it, It’s Star Trek, I like it,

Play Prepare for blast off

One of my all time favorite movies!  Any of us that played these stand up arcade machines would have gladly traded places with Alex as he defends the frontier.  The Last Starfighter was a spectacular movie with great music, and cutting special effects for the time.  I wrote this original song just for the Treks IN Sci Fi podcast with Rico Dostie.  I hope you enjoy this blast from the past!  Good job Starfighter!

Prepare for Blast Off
Music and lyrics by Rick Moyer

In a dusty trailer park I’m waiting
For my destiny to be served
Put another quarter in the stand up arcade machine
I’ll defend the Universe in the Rylan Star League

 Galactic Greetings young star fighter
You’ve been Recruited by the Star League
To defend the frontier
Fighting against Xur and Ko Dan Armada
Get ready prepare for Blast Off!

And so I’m recruited by Centauri
A real old guy with a fancy car
In my gunstar with Grig the Iguana
It’s up to us and all we are

 Galactic Greetings young star fighter
You’ve been Recruited by the Star League
To defend the frontier
Fighting against Xur and Ko Dan Armada
Get ready prepare for Blast Off!

Smoke on the Planet
a parody of Deep Purple’s Smoke on the Water

PLAY SMOKE ON THE PLANET
It was fun to watch Captain Kirk battle the Smoke/Cloud monster that smelled like honey.  The episode Obsession begged a parody song.. and so here it is…

SMOKE ON THE PLANET
A parody of Smoke on the Water by Deep Purple
lyrics and sung by Rick Moyer

ON 3619.2
A survey on Argus V
The planet rich in tritanium
A substance harder than diamonds
The captain smells a sweetness
And orders the ensigns around
He says fire on the cloud red shirts
But then he finds them on the ground
Smoke on the Planet, a monster in disguise

Smoke on the Planet

Big white cloud

It sucked out the corpuscles
Left the ensigns dead cept Rizzo
The Captain says it’s familiar
That the dr. Search records of the Farragut
Rizzo dies and Garrovick
His best buddy wants revenge
So they all beam down again to search
And the cloud attacks them again

Smoke on the Planet, monster in disguise

Big white cloud

Now Kirk he’s getting obsessed
With the killing of this blip
The Cloud it goes to warp eight
Then turns back on their ship
McCoy and Spock they question
But in the end they trust ol Kirk
The blow it up with anti matter
It’s the only thing that works
Smoke on the Planet, A monster in the sky

The movie Bladerunner was such an interesting Science Fiction offering.  My friend Rico told me that it was adapted for screen from the story called “Do androids dream of electric sheep?”by Philip K. Dick  and thus, this mash up was recorded and performed for your listening pleasure!  No repicants were harmed in the making of this song.  I promise.  😉

Play the song Without Old Landru Here

Rico Dostie from www.treksinscifi.com covered the episode of the original Star Trek series called “Return of the Archons”  It was  an episode that freaked me out as a kid, but as an adult I appreciated it’s message and cool sci fi elements.  So, I had to do a parody of U2’s With Or Without You, and it became Without Old Landru.  ENJOY!

Without Old Landru

Parody of U2’s with or without you
By Rick Moyer

See the brown robes really thick
See the hollow big long sticks
And they serve Landru

Sulu underneath his charm
The population he does harm
And they serve, Landru

It’s all about Landru
It’s all about Landru

The Red hour comes and then they all
Lose control for Festival
And They serve Landru

It’s all about Landru
It’s all about Landru
They can’t live
without Old Landru

Are you part of the body
Are you part of the body
Are you part
Are you part
Are you part of the body

Kirk he tries
And tricks Landru with his mind
Sparks they all fly
Nothing left of him…

And they blew Landru away
And they blew Landru away
And they blew
And they blew
And they blew Landru away

Was all about Landru
Was all about Landru
Beta Three without Ol Landru
Without old Landru

 Woooo ooooooooooooo X3

It’s all about Landru
It’s all about Landru
They can’t live
without Old Landru

Cheesy Sci-Fi

Play Cheesy Sci-Fi Here

I have long been a fan of campy sci-fi shows.  I love B movies with a sci-fi theme from Godzilla to “They came from outerspace”  Had to put together a song that is techno and rocks at the same time and thus… CHEESY SCI-FI the song was born.  This is an original where I wrote, recorded and performed the song.  ENJOY!

Cheesy Sci-Fi

Don’t you think I like it when I see the fishing line?
Don’t you think I know it when the actor blows his line?
Don’t you think I dig it when costumes don’t fit right?
Don’t you think it’s cool on sci fi Friday night?

Lasers that are drawn in to make it look real hip
Sparks and smoke they fill the place and shake the fake spaceship
Overacting gone awry and spandex in the mix
And plastic props and boulders  so we can get our kicks

I want cheesy sci fi
You want cheesy sci fi
We want cheesy sci fi
Not your fly by night guy

Chorus:

Somethin on the TV
Rubber Mask that’s cheesy
Robots make it easy
Come on entertain me
cheesy sci fi

Karate chopping captains that use both of their hands
And monsters in a rug suit roaming all through the land
Vehicles that look like they rolled out of Mad Max
And green blood dripping everywhere From Alien attacks
And don’t forget the sound effects that entertain our ears
From Spaceships to the atmosphere  decapitation fears
All of this it  makes for sci fi that we love
So bring on the Aliens from the hovering ships above

 Chorus X 2

Cool talk voice solo

Chorus

My friend Gareth and I were talking on Skype together, he on his iPod and I on my computer when we began to play music, sing and laugh.  It was so fun that I found this cool setting on my keyboard and I told him that by the time he woke up in the morning – he lives in England, that I would have a song written for him.  And thus, Gareth’s Ipod was born!  ENJOY!
